Our recycling program is now managed by Circular Materials, a not-for-profit organization that is committed to building an efficient and effective recycling system in New Brunswick. The Province is moving to an extended producer responsibility (EPR) model for the recycling of packaging and paper products, where the brand owners - the organizations that produce these materials, take charge of their management and financing, rather than municipal entities. This transition, which began on November 1, 2023 and is scheduled to run until 2027, is designed to provide a more efficient and harmonized recycling program across the province.
Residents can now place white polystyrene foam and beverage cardboard in their blue bin. Glass and flexible plastics are not accepted in the blue bin and must be taken to a local redemption center. Find a redemption centre near you here and learn what materials can be dropped off here.
